Nicole + Bobby {ENGAGED!}

I first met Nicole at a meeting with another of our brides, and I had no idea she was engaged (or about to be!). She seemed like such a sweetie, and I was SO excited when I got an email weeks later sharing her good news!

We sat down with Nicole and her mom shortly after and heard all about her plans for a gorgeous vintage, old-Hollywood theater wedding...and I was SO excited!! We talked all about different ideas for pictures and different ideas for their engagement shoot and I couldn't wait to see her again (and meet Bobby, of course!).

We got a great day for their shoot and we started down in the P&L to get some vintage-theater inspired pictures. Since we didnt get to go INSIDE a theater like we had planned, we decided to shoot some outside, and luckily this part of town has 2 within walking distance that both have a nice vintage vibe- I was in LOVE with her dress!! And Bobby was so sweet- they are such a cute couple!

After shooting downtown we headed out to Lake Jacomo for some nature-inspired settings...this was my first time out here and I loved it! The water and trees made for some fantastic backdrops (and we only hit one area!) and again, I was digging her dress!

My favorite part of the shoot though had to be the shoes...they had shoes with their wedding date airbrushed on them, and it was probably one of the cutest things I have come across lately. I absolutely LOVE how the shots with the shoes came out- they look so in love and excited!!!

Elesha + Pete {ENGAGED!}

I met Elesha at our Spring bridal fair back in February and I instantly liked her! She started telling me about her wedding this summer and while we were chatting I noticed her son, who looked like the last place he wanted to be on a Sunday morning was at a bridal fair with his mom! I started chatting with him and learned that that particular Sunday was more important than others- he had a VERY important game he had to play in, and he was very happy his mom had made a decision because he COULD NOT be late! In fact, he was headed there right after they left the show, he informed me, and I noticed he was dressed and ready- I then understood that this must REALLY be an important game! :)

So after they left I was super excited Elesha had chosen us to be a part of her wedding. I couldn't wait to meet Pete at their engagement shoot and for Adam and I to get to know them a bit better. The day of their shoot came and at the last minute, crazy insane winds made us have to postpone...but a week later we were able to try again and this time we got gorgeous weather! We started off at Kaufman Gardens down off the Plaza and then headed to the waterfront. They had a beautiful day, and Pete is such a fun guy! We learned all about the importance of fishing and talked about their wedding day and the fun ideas for pictures. It was great finally getting to get to know them (AND, I found out her son did in fact win that all-important game!)!

Happy Birthday to My Amazing Sister!

So time for a personal post- but I hope you all don't mind! :D

So 18 years ago today I became a big sister for the fist time. I was so proud and so excited- I had waited 9 months for her to get here and FINALLY, my baby sister made her appearance into the world.

Although my joy at her arrival was stunted after I realized she was going to take away the undivided attention that my only-child-self was used to, I still grew pretty fond of her. The fact that when she was able to walk she would follow me around wasn't bad either :)

Even though the days playing cabbage patch dolls and random photo shoots ended when I became too "cool" and thought having a little sister was annoying (hey, I was in Jr. High, everything was too "cool" for me anymore!), I always loved my baby sis- even though I never liked to admit it to her.

I've watched her grow from this cute little curly haired kid with the smirk who loved dalmatians into this amazing and beautiful and outspoken woman. We've become much closer in the past few years and I am honored to call her my best friend. She inspires me daily, and I continue to look up to her. I know she is going to do incredible things in her life, and I am excited and honored to be a part of it. She will always be my little sis, but she will also always be my best and closest friend. I can't wait for the future and for the fun times that we are sure to have together!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kelsey!! :D I hope you have an incredible day. I love you!!

{MARRIED!} Emma + Nolan

We met Emma & Nolan at a bridal fair that we did a couple years ago and hit if off right away- Nolan was a Husker fan and Emma put up with it, what could be better? :)

Over the past 2 years we have talked about their wedding day and met with them a few times, we did 2 different engagement shoots and heard all about the wedding plans and couldn't wait to see Darko in a tux. We sort of planned our weddings at the same time, since Adam and I were in the wedding planning stages ourselves at the time. So it was all the more exciting to us to finally have their wedding day here, and they had a perfect spring day! Minus the wind, their outdoor wedding went off without a hitch and Darko behaved quite well (he was the ring bearer, and did quite good at it!). Emma looked gorgeous and Nolan's expression when he saw her for the first time was absolutely priceless. He had me in tears (which isn't hard to do at a wedding)!

You could totally feel the love these two had for each other, and we are so honored that we had the opportunity to capture the special moments of their day. It was hard to narrow down even just a few for their teasers- they all turned out so great! Ayleice + Craig {Engaged!}

I met Ayleice when I was in high school at Roncalli. She was a year ahead of me, but we hung around with some of the same friends and we got to know each other pretty well...then she trasnferred to Northwest, where ironically enough, she met and became friends with Adam.

So imagine my surprise, many years later, when an email pops up in my Inbox, saying she was engaged! We hadn't talked in years, and it was so exciting to hear about her wedding plans- and Adam and I were honored that she had asked us to capture the big day.

We met on a perfect weekend up in Omaha for their engagement shoot downtown. The weather was great, and we managed to find parts of the downtown area that were not overrun with people out also enjoying the beautiful day. It was so much fun getting to see Ayleice again and getting to meet Craig. They are adorable together, and it turns out Craig went to Roncalli as well- just a few years earlier- so it was fun getting to reminisce about the good old Crimson Pride days. ;)

Sarah + Adam {ENGAGED}

Just got done editing these beauties from Sarah & Adam's engagement shoot we did a couple weeks ago up in Omaha. These two are probably one of the cutest couples we have had in the way they interact with one another. They had some awesome ideas for the shoot- incorporating bikes (from Sarah's time living in the Netherlands) and songwriting (which they both do), among other things. We were SO excited! We had the perfect day for everything, and the downtown area was the perfect backdrop. I love the bike shots, but I have to say my favorites are the ones with the guitar and songbooks...the way Adam looked at Sarah during these shots was priceless- you could almost feel the love he felt for her every time he looked at her.

Sarah emailed me before the shoot, telling me that they were a bit camera-shy (which surprised me, given all of their super fun ideas!)...but you would never know it from these pictures! They acted like pros all day, and Sarah was gorgeous- Adam is a lucky guy! ;)

Wait, We Still Have a Blog?

I know, I know...what happened?! Well, I unintentionally took a break from the blog world to concentrate on our Facebook Fan Page, and then we decided to re-vamp the business from a marketing standpoint and spend many weeks designing new advertising materials, a new logo, AND booking like crazy for our 2011 season. So I promise, we were not sitting here through the winter months enjoying a nice break (though it does sound nice...!)! Now that website has been overhauled, the logo (and name!) have officially changed- and wedding season is upon us- I have decided to come back to the blog world. My goal is to actually keep it updated this time, so we shall see! :D

In any case, look for some new and exciting things coming your way from us. If you haven't stopped by the website in a while, definitely do so. You can still access it from the C. Lynne Productions way, but the NEW and OFFICIAL name is now C. Lynne Photography...so definitely swing by and take a look there.

We are so incredibly excited for our upcoming weddings this summer and beyond. We have booked some amazing couples who have some really exciting ideas and we are so excited to put everything together and be a part of it. We love our jobs, and LOVE it when we have fun couples to share it with!

I hope 2011 is treating everyone FABULOUS so far, and we are excited for the changes and the *35* weddings we have booked for 2011 (so far!)! :D Can't wait to be a part of everything- we are incredibly blessed!

Kelly + Caleb Engagement

We met Kelly and Caleb late one night (and by late, I'm talking, close to midnight late!) in Omaha after trying to coordinate schedules for quite some time. When we aren't always in Omaha and you have a couple who works in the overnight- things get a bit tricky! But we didnt mind, and we spent the wee hours of the morning discussing their wedding plans for next May at the Joslyn.

We were so excited to see them again, after discussing their engagement shoot for many months. They decided on the beautiful botanical gardens and we got a perfect day for the shoot- although warm for September! Kelly had some great ideas and inspiration for her shoot, and I was super excited to put these ideas into action! It is always SO much fun for us when we get to try out new ideas in shoots- it makes for some great new images!

I loved their outfits and the vintage vibe that was the inspiration for the shoot. Kelly had an adorable outfit, and I was totally digging the hat on Caleb! We shot all over the gardens- including tying some picture frames to trees for the last part of the shoot! How FUN are these pictures?!

Here are a few favorites from the day! I am digging the vintage inspired shoots lately! It gives me so much to play with while I am editing, and I LOVE the muted, antique edits. Their clothing and background just led perfectly to this vibe!

A Glimpse at Beauty

As promised, I wanted to share a few pictures from our trip to New England. The fall colors were at their peak, and the mountain views were simply stunning.

On one of our only rain-free days, Adam and I took full advantage and headed to Peacham, VT which is famed as being the "Most Photographed Town" in New England. Rightly so, as the picturesque mountains, white steeple church, and red barn were laid out perfectly. I had seen the "view" of the town photographed many times and had read a hundred times on how to get to the perfect "spot" to take the photograph...so even though it had been done a hundred times, we parked next to the fire station and carried our tripod up the private property behind it up the hill. It was a steeper hill than we had anticipated, but as the view came into focus it was well worth it.

We debated while driving through the town on whether or not to stop at the cemetery. I had heard so many great things about it, yet it was getting later and we had hoped to reach our next destination by dark and we were still a couple hours drive away (mountain driving at night is not a lightly taken task!). After stopping in the general store and having a nice chat with the gentleman there (and eating some delicious food!) we bought a couple souvenirs and took a last drive through the town. I broke during the drive up the hill, the whole "we'll regret it later" thing got to me, and I made Adam turn into the cemetery. Let's just say, 2 hours later and settling on dusk, we were still in the cemetery, wishing for more time. Every turn was a photographers dream...and this wasn't just any ordinary cemetery. Old, ornate headstones from the early 1700s, fall leaves strewn about, American flags perched next to graves so old you can't read the names or dates...all of this on a hill overlooking those beautiful Vermont mountains. We spent a lot of time there...and we only hit one small area of it. As we finally made our way out (a couple rolls of film and many digital pictures later) we kept turning and stopping for that one last quick shot...even though it was getting dark and we knew a storm was coming. It was just so beautiful, so peaceful.

One day I have to go back. I feel like I missed out on so much...but it was wonderful all the same.

Happy Anniversary!!

Today is officially Adam and I's 1-year anniversary! It is insane to think that a year ago today we were saying our vows and had just finished planning a wedding! This year has gone by so fast, and we are so grateful for everything that has happened during it. We've had a great year, and we are looking forward to the many more we will have together!

I have the most wonderful husband in the world- he puts up with me, loves me, and above all, supports me through everything. I love him with all my heart, and I am so thankful for the years we have spent together! I love you, Adam!

Anna + Travis Engagement

A few months back, we teamed up with Perfect Wedding Guide of Kansas City and their 12 Months! 12 Giveaways! Promotion, giving away a free wedding day package. Well, a couple months ago, we got a call from Anna saying she had won the latest drawing and wanted to choose us as her prize!

We were so honored to have been chosen, and after talking with Anna on the phone and through email, we were so excited to finally meet her and Travis in person. She was just as fun in person as she had seemed on the phone and her friendly personality made it seem like we had been friends for a long time. Her and Travis were adorable together and her bubbly personality made it hard not to smile! We started near Loose Park before heading up near Liberty for the rest of their shoot. I adored her dress- how perfect for a nature type setting?! She also liked the vintage-vibe for her pictures, which I was happy to oblige! I LOVE the vintage edits!

Cheyanne + Michael Anniversary

We LOVE anniversary shoots! It is so great to hear from our amazing couples again and hear about what they have been up to during the first year of their marriage!

Cheyanne and Michael were married last summer and Adam and I had the pleasure of being part of their day. It was so much fun- they mad a mariachi band and she had lime green shoes!!! It was so much fun to see what they had been up to during the past year, and it was also crazy to believe that over a year had past since their wedding day!

We started their shoot in Loose Park and afterward, Cheyanne told us about a little flower garden they had found off of the Plaza. We were intrigued, so we headed there for the last part of the shoot. We were SO impressed with what we found! It was like a mini-botanical garden! It had cool archways, fun benches, and beautiful bright flowers- we have definitely found a new place to shoot!

Here are a few favorites from their shoot! They had some great coloring that day, and I LOVED the bright colors they wore as well. So much fun!

Rachael & Stephen Wedding

Rachael and Stephen had a perfect day for their wedding up in Omaha. These two were so in love, and Rachael had one of my favorite wedding dresses to date! Stephen looked absolutely speechless when he saw his beautiful bride (and rightly so- she was STUNNING!) and the two had such a beautiful day!

Their reception was at the Old Mattress Factory in downtown Omaha, and this was the first time we have shot a full reception there. We've had a few couples stop into the bar downstairs with the wedding party, so we were familiar with the downstairs, but the upstairs was such a treat! Rustic and urban with windows overlooking downtown- one of my favorites in Omaha! We LOVE shooting in new locations, so this was definitely a fun day for us.

We're Back!

See, I told you we'd be back! :D

Adam and I arrived back in KC late last night after a wonderful time in New England celebrating our 1-year anniversary as a married couple. We visited New York City, then rented a car and drove over 1,500 miles throughout Vermont, Canada, New Hampshire, Maine and all of the other beautiful New England states. We took in a Yankee vs Red Sox game at BOTH Yankee Stadium in New York and Fenway Stadium in Boston as well as enjoyed all of the quaint mountain towns. The scenery was absolutely spectacular and even though it rained for a good portion of our trip, we still got in a couple of good photography days. Perhaps I will share a couple from our journey soon! :D

And now, back to reality! Today we are unpacking and making a much needed trip to the grocery store, and then we will start to make our way through the hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of emails we received while we were away. Please be patient as we make our way through them, and we promise we will get to yours soon!

After we get caught up with the emails and phone messages in the next couple of days, I will get back to editing all of the pictures from our wonderful weddings and shoots lately! Be looking for some beauties soon!

We are also super excited for Whitney and Marshall's wedding this weekend up in stunning Weston! What a perfect fall backdrop, and the weather looks amazing! :D

Be Back Soon...I Promise!

After a crazy first year of married life, Adam and I are quickly approaching that milestone 1-year anniversary. As hectic and busy as this past year has been, it has been an incredible first year of married life, and we can only hope that each and every year following is just as amazing.

The only drawback to our amazing jobs as photographers, is that we rarely get a weekend or time to ourselves as a couple. Granted, we wouldn't have any other job, as we absolutely LOVE what we do and the people that we meet. However, as in all jobs, a vacation is always needed.

Adam and I will be leaving the beautiful Midwest for a couple weeks and headed to enchanting New England. As photographers, we wanted something we had never done before and something that we could do together. Many of you may not know, but as much as we love shooting people, we also have a secret passion for nature and landscape photography- Adam in particular. So, we are packing up the vintage gear (and the digital, of course!) and heading to the mountains. Fall foliage to the extreme, and a perfect way to celebrate all of the wonderful things we have accomplished together during the past year.

So we will be MIA until October 5th. No emails, no phone- just time together. But not to worry- we will reply to all of our amazing couples as soon as we get back! We appreciate your patience with us, and thank you for allowing us to be able to do what we love together!

Fall Bridal Show 2010

My feet are exhausted and my voice is gone, and that can only mean one thing- another successful bridal show is in the books!

We had a bit of a crazy start to this week and weekend...we have been so busy lately that this bridal show sort of snuck up on us. So, while we had planned on building our new set of walls and having them completed and freshly painted in plenty of time for the show, we didnt get the painting side done until, well...two days before.

It rained most of the week which made it impossible to paint, so the final results were done in a rush and the end product was less than stellar. BUT, we made it work, and Saturday came and we tore apart our studio and packed up the u-haul for the setup day.

The walls this time around were a bit more difficult to set up, mainly due to our new location allll the way in the back (well, it's actually the front, but the farthest you can get from the loading dock!) of the convention center. We were stoked that an opening in the front row opened up this year, as we have been trying for one every show for the past few years.

Anyways, after the new walls were in place, we ran home for a quick night's sleep and packed up the car bright and early Sunday morning, eager to meet with our new brides. We had a TREMENDOUS show, adding close to 10 new couples to our 2011 family! Our booth was packed all day and we are just so thrilled and honored at the response we received! Let's just say, the front row treated us well!

We are so excited to meet more with our couples in the coming weeks and the fabulous fall engagement shoots that are booking up faster than we imagined!

Unfortunately, in all of the hustle of the weekend, I completely forgot to pack our pro cameras to get some awesome shots of our booth. I did, however, have my little point and shoot with me. So here are a few that didnt turn out quite so horrible! So please excuse the less than amazing quality! :D

(ENGAGED!!) Whitney + Marshall

HAPPY SEPTEMBER EVERYONE!!!

Can you believe that it is already September?! Before you know it the sweaters will come out, the leaves will start changing, and that wonderful crisp breeze will start blowing through the air. I can't wait- fall has always been my absolute favorite season!

So to start off the month, here are some teasers from our latest engagement session! Meet Whitney and Marshall, an adorable couple who happen to also be having a fall wedding this October! At a barn! As incredibly excited as I am for their wedding, I was more excited to meet these two after talking for a long time with Whitney over email. From the way she talked about her wedding, I knew she was someone I would get along with instantly- and I was right!

These two were so much fun and with the way they interacted with one another you could tell that they are very much in love. We kept with the nature theme of their wedding and headed up north to get some pictures in a park, complete with trees and rustic buildings. We found the place a few months back when we took a wedding couple there, and I knew this would be perfect for these two!

They have a KU/MU rivalry going on, so we had to get some pictures of the two supporting their teams! They were so cute! After our time at the park, these two wanted to end their shoot by jumping into a waterfall they had found a few minutes away. Adam and I were thrilled- not only do we LOVE fun ideas like this, but we also did something similar for our own engagement shoot over a year ago, so we were definitely excited to get some fun pics! Unfortunately, after we drove to the spot, it turned out that the waterfall was turned off for the day (even though it was 100 degrees outside!). Instead we took some fun pictures where the water usually flows, and although it didnt quite give the same effect, it was still a lot of fun!

Goodbye Summer...

I cannot BELIEVE that August is already coming to an end! Where did this month go?! It seems like it was seriously just the other day that it was the beginning of summer and now here we are with everyone returning to school and fall is just around the corner!

This was certainly a busy summer around here, packed full of weddings and other photo shoots. We are so incredibly blessed to be able to do what we do and have met to many amazing people along the way. All of our couples have been so incredible to work with and we can only imagine what the fall and coming months will bring. We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for trusting us to capture the special moments of your lives. We love what we do and strive to provide you with the very best. We are excited for the coming months and to be able to share even more exciting and wonderful things with you all!

I just wanted to take a second today and give a shout out to one of the most important people in my life- my mom! Today is my incredible mother's birthday and I wish more than anything that I could be there to spend the day with her. She means the world to me and every single day I strive to be more and more like her. If I can one day become half the woman she is I will be thankful!

My mother is an incredibly talented, kind, and wonderful person and I would not be the person that I am today without her guidance and love. She is always the first person I turn to in a problem or to share a happy moment and I have no idea what I would ever do without her by my side. She has overcome a lot in her life and her strength and compassion is something that I and my sisters look up to every day. She is amazing, and I hope that she has a truly wonderful day today.

So mom- HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Adam and I, and we will be there this weekend to celebrate!! I love you more than anything!!!

We met these two close to 2 years ago after they were one of our winners in a drawing we did at a bridal fair. They were so excited for everything about their day, and after getting to know them even more during their engagement shoot last year, we couldn't wait for their wedding!

It definitely didn't disapoint. Everything was beautiful, and while Sarah was prepping for the ceremony by laughing with her girls and drinking a shake (hey, a girl's gotta eat!), Justyn was walking around the ceremony, obviously a big bundle of nerves. I found it absolutely adorable and it was obvious in his actions of the love he felt and how big of a deal this wedding was to him.

They had a fabulous day, though the summer heat was very apparent! We had some time before their reception and headed to Winsteads- which I thought was SUCH a cute idea! How fun to get some old fashioned diner photos, jukebox and all! The bridal party also stopped for some fries and a few of their massive shakes- how much fun! After getting some cute shots at the diner (and enjoying a delicious shake in the process!), we followed the bridal party to the Nelson Atkins for some additional pictures on their beautiful lawn.

Their reception was definitely one big party all night long, from their stage entrance to the final dance, the dance floor was filled all night long and the couple definitely had a wonderful time!

I have some GREAT news!

Cate (of Simple Matters) had her little boy yesterday and he is absolutely beautiful! Cate is such an incredible friend and I am so happy for her and Jake to be celebrating this incredible time in their lives together. Little Finn is beautiful, and I cannot WAIT to visit in a couple weeks. I know the little guy is going to be getting plenty of camera time from us in the future!

Congrats guys, he is stunning and I cannot wait to meet him!

Talk about a CRAZY month!

Adam and I have been running 100 miles an hour this month getting ready for upcoming weddings (we are booked almost every weekend!) and catching up on editing and fitting in everyone for their engagement and other shoots! It's been a little bit of a whirlwind, to say the least. I know I've been slacking a bit blog-wise, but I promise to have some teasers and more posts on their way soon!

We met Ashley & James last year and from the day we met until their wedding day, all Adam has talked about was their nacho cheese fountain. The couple shared this amazing reception feature with us at their booking, and Adam has been fascinated for the past year and a half, hoping and praying that they weren't joking and that there really would be a cheesy fountain at their wedding.

Me, on the other hand (while intrigued at the thought of a fountain of cheesy goodness), was more excited for Ashley's dress. While she never actually TOLD me what the dress looked like, after seeing her outfits at their engagement shoot, I was determined that she would have this insanely beautiful, elegant gown...the girl seemed really into fashion! James too looked rather stylish at their engagement shoot (my favorite memory was his shoes, and when I commented on them, he told me they were insanely uncomfortable...but that it was "the price to look good"...I mean a GUY wearing uncomfortable shoes for the sake of fashion?! Love it!), but as with every wedding, I was excited for the dress. I had this picture in my mind of what it would look like in pictures, and when Ashley informed me that they wanted to do a full on photo shoot BEFORE the wedding ceremony at different locations around town- I was SO excited, to say the least!

It is every wedding photographer's dream to get the couple for alone time (whether before or after the ceremony) to get those show-stopping, on-location photos. Sadly, a lot of weddings only allow for a very quick picture time, if any time at all. So when she informed me that they wanted a good couple HOURS of shooting, at various locations about town, Adam and I set to work on finding the perfect mix of backdrops for the day.

While searching through my various sources, I was tipped off to our first location of the day- and I could NOT have been happier that Ashley & James were up for it! Adam and I had never been there, but after seeing the pictures from this day- we are most CERTAINLY heading back!

We also had to get in the urban shots down in the Bottoms, and we had time with the entire bridal party- and can I comment again about how much I LOVE fun shoes?! The girls all had matching LIME GREEN heels- including Ashley- LOVE IT! The striking black and lime green accents were awesome!

Back to Ashley's dress. When I saw her for the first time on the wedding day, her dress was EXACTLY what I had envisioned...only better. It was classic, almost an old Hollywood Glamor look that combined with her cathedral length veil...stunning!

Alright, alright. Enough gushing- on to the pictures! I have so so many images to go through of their day that I feel as though there may be another post at a later date, however this will give you a good sampling. Enjoy!!!

Oh, and PS- yes, the nacho fountain was there, much to Adam's excitement, and it was pretty darn amazing! They had a pretty amazing dinner too- Pizza Hut wings and pizza, combined with the nacho cheese fountain?! Who says you cant mix classy with awesome??? One of my favorite dinners so far, and we we've been to some pretty fancy weddings!

Chelsey & Jeremy (ENGAGED!)

Chelsey & Jeremy drove all the way to us from Omaha to have their engagement pictures done in the big city. We were so excited to finally meet these two, as Chelsey and I have been emailing back and forth for months now! We were so excited that they decided to make the trip, because even though we are familiar with it now, coming from Omaha, they will have pictures that are completely unique to them! We definitely wanted to give them the complete "big city" vibe for their shoot, and what better place to do that than right in the heart of downtown?

Before heading there, though, we took them out to a little secret place we found out about last year (well, it may not really be secret, but we like to think it is :) ) and we guarantee they don't have anything like this in Omaha! They are such a cute couple, and Jeremy has such a great sense of humor- it was so much fun watching them banter back and forth making jokes! It makes me really excited for their wedding, and I am hoping that their wedding party is just as fun!

After our nature part of the day, we headed downtown and even though the day was absolutely SWELTERING, we got some great pictures! I am so excited for their wedding this fall (we all hope it isn't THAT hot on their big day!) up in Omaha, and cannot wait to see everything that they have planned!

Sara & Brad (MARRIED!!!)

I have been looking forward to these two's wedding for over a year and a half now. I got to know Sara and Brad last year when Adam and I shot their engagement shoot, and I knew when I first met them at their booking that these two were going to have a fun wedding. Their engagement shoot did not disappoint- it started off with the 4 of us trekking through ridiculous amounts of mud in order to get to a place we had found by accident. It turned out awesome, but I remember thinking that any couple that had such a great sense of humor and willingness to trek through mud in their dress clothes was going to have an amazing wedding!

The first thing that I was super excited when I got to their wedding was their colors- a combination of pinks and wines made for a striking but elegant combination, completely chic. The next thing I was excited about was their reception at Union Station. Not only am I in love with the architect of the building, but the whole atmosphere of the train station/museum vibe fit in perfect with the ambiance of their wedding.

It didn't disappoint. After their beautiful ceremony we were able to snap a few pictures of the gorgeous couple outside of the station (even though we were held up by the longest parade of Volkswagen Beetles I have ever seen in my entire life) before heading in to the reception. The wedding planners and decorators did a fabulous job, not only was the setup different from the usual banquet style tables (all of the guests were seated on one long, continuous table that curved out on each end) but the decorations were breathtaking. We got some incredible photos, and the dance floor was busy all night!

We had so much fun!

Before I share the teasers, I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Ashley Hotka of Good Earth Floral Design Studio. She was the mastermind behind the gorgeous decor and flowers for the wedding and each time I see her work I am more amazed! So my KC brides- if you are in the market for a unique florist, definitely look her up!

Amanda & Justin Wedding

I met Amanda and Justin a year and a half ago at a late night meeting at Borders. Amanda had just gotten out of class, and Justin looked like he wanted to be in bed! But I could tell right away that the two of them were in love, and the way Amanda's eyes lit up when she talked about her perfect wedding day just made me even more excited for the day to finally get here.

It definitely didn't disappoint, and these two had a super fun day. My favorite moment had to be when Justin surprised Amanda in the middle of the ceremony by singing her a song he had written especially for the wedding. Even though Adam and I were warned it was going to happen beforehand so we could be in place for pictures, the look on Amanda's face was priceless. It was absolutely adorable- brought a tear to my eye that's for sure!

Afterwards, we headed over to a playground near their reception hall and got some fun pictures on the slides and playground. Even though it was insanely hot that day, the colors were spectacular, especially combined with the girls' dresses and flowers. Love it!

Tonya & Brian Wedding

Tonya & Brian were an adorable couple we met about a year and a half ago. We were super excited to do their wedding- it was at the Uptown Theater and I absolutely *love* that space. I've seen a few concerts there over the years, and was really excited to be shooting a wedding in the space.

Talk about busy!

Adam and I have been super busy lately editing and shooting weddings, e-shoots, seniors, and anything else you can think of. We also have been updating our office which has taken every free moment we have had lately (which are few and far between!) I feel like I have been slipping off of the blog updating, but I promise to be updating more soon. Wedding season is a busy one this year, with weddings and shoots booked every weekend! We are excited for sure, but it definitely keeps us busy. Can't wait to share more with everyone!

Ben Senior Session

Ben was another of our Springfield seniors. He is graduating in the class of 2011 from Springfield Catholic, and it was a lot of fun getting to do his session. He is super in to music, so of course we had to put the guitar in some of his pics!

Him and Adam had fun talking music and guitars, and we got some really neat pictures! He totally looks like a he just stepped off an album cover! And I am absolutely in LOVE with his bright blue eyes! Love it!

Kelsey Senior Session

I have got to say first off, that I have been looking forward to this shoot for a few years now. I remember being a senior in high school and getting my pictures done- my first big photshoot. I felt like a rockstar. Ever since then I was looking forward to giving my little sister the same experience.

I can't believe that she is already going to be a senior. Soon, she'll go off to college and become something spectacular (not that she isn't already spectacular!) and I cannot wait to share these experiences with her.

Because she is my sister, we are actually splitting her session into a few different shoots. She wants some taken here in KC (we have some pretty cool urban areas here that they don't have in Springfield) and some in the fall (lol, I continue to tell my mother how lucky she is since it is turning into a pretty lengthy shoot!) but we started off down in good old Springfield where she lives. We found a neat little urban area and I threw our amazing chair into the car and we headed out. Even though this shoot was pretty short (she had to work almost every day we were in town, so we were battling daylight here) we still got some great pictures. She is absolutely beautiful, and I hope her boyfriend tells her that every day. I am honored to have such an incredible and beautiful and amazing sister, and I am even more honored that she trusted us to take these pictures for her. I felt like she had high expectations for me, and I hope that we didn't disappoint.

Ben is One! Happy Birthday!!!

To celebrate the first super warm day of the summer, Adam and I had a shoot with the birthday boy!! :) Ben turned the big "1" the week before this shoot, and we were really excited to get some fun outside pictures to capture this big event!

He is SUCH a little cutie- and he looks just like his daddy! He was a total stud on his John Deere tractor and even though he was a bit cranky due to a lack of a nap, he still was a sport and gave us some great pictures.

He also wasn't a huge fan of the grass- hey, I understand- it IS itchy!!

Cherith & Tom Senior Shoot

I have known Cherith and Tom since they were in diapers, so it was a huge honor for me to get to shoot their senior pictures. My best friend is their older sister, and I grew up always considering her family to be an extension of my own. The two are twins (though you'd never know it!) and both graduating this year from Heartland Christian in Council Bluffs.

Their amazing mom Pat (my other mom!) actually drove them down to KC for the shoot, and even though it was a blah gray day, we had a ton of fun down in the West Bottoms getting some great shots of the two of them. We don't have places like this in good ole Omaha!

It is always a big honor to me when close friends and family want us to take their pictures for their life's major milestones. When people, especially close people, like our work and what we do it just seems to have a deeper meaning to me, and it was such a great feeling getting to do this shoot for these wonderful people.

Here are a few favorites from the day, starting with Cherith- or Cherry as I'm used to calling her. :)

Now on to Tom. He's grown into such a handsome guy and even though he was a bit reluctant to have his pictures taken, we had him loosened up by the end and got some fantastic shots!

Happy Birthday Elliott!!

Remember back around Christmas time I shot some pictures of my good friend's nephew? Well, he turned the big 1-Year about 2 months back, and we figured it was time for a real, full-on photo shoot (since last time was about a 10 minute quickie in their living room, complete with felt blanket backdrop-hey, you improv with what you got!)! So we took Elliott down to the park near their house and we had SO much fun! This little guy is walking now, so we had a hard time keeping him away from the other little ones playing in the sand. So we chased him around, made him laugh, and even got a little dirty in the sand along the way. He is such an absolute cutie with the most GORGEOUS eyes! He was just a little bottle of energy, and even though he gave out after a while (after all, dad DID wake him up from a nap to get ready for the pics!) we got some super cute ones.

This one is definitely my favorite. I just can't stop smiling when I look at it!

Happy Birthday Elliott!!! And thanks Mom and Dad for letting me take the little guy out for a bit and chase him around with a camera! ;)

Whoa, it's May?

Whoa, what a MASSIVE failure on the blog updating lately! This last month has flown by in a crazy whirlwind- I swear I woke up and it was already May! Goodness. We've been super busy these last few weeks with engagement shoots, client meetings, senior sessions and of course the start of wedding season. I don't believe Adam and I have a day off until the end of July from now on...talk about busy!

We've been hitting the Facebook Fan Page world head on lately, and I'm ashamed to say that I have failed the blog in the meantime. For some reason after uploading teaser photos to the fan site I always forget about this good old site here, which makes me incredibly sad because, on a personal note, I like the blog much better than the FB page!

I know it's too late to go back and post more of the teasers from shoots we did forever ago (though there are plenty on the wonderful Facebook Page!), but I wanted to share a few that I just finished up today from Vanessa and Gary's engagement shoot. This was a smokin' couple, it was like they were born to be photographed! Gary swore he was nervous, but in these pics, I beg to differ!

This is probably my absolute favorite. They just look like they stepped out of this super sexy movie scene!

Marathon Weekend

We've had a crazy couple of weeks around here! To start it off, my computer decided it didnt want to start a couple weeks ago...worked fine one hour, wouldn't turn on the next. So an emergency trip to the Apple store was in order, only to find out that my baby needed a new Logic Board...not what any Mac owner wants to hear. Luckily my paranoia and purchase of the extended Apple Care plan covered this $2,000 procedure, and I left my pretty in the care of the professionals.

While I am extremely thankful for my Blackberry in my time of need, I have to say I am more than happy to have my computer back!

This past weekend Adam and I had our first of our 3 weekend marathon mini-shoots. We met so many great couples! The weather held out and was just perfect and the West Bottoms was absolutely packed with photographers. I'm sifting through the pics and will have teasers for you soon! We can't wait for next week when we hit up Loose Park!

We've also been gearing up for our senior photo shoots coming up! We've got em scheduled all over the Midwest and are super excited. With KC, Omaha and Springfield all within a few hours' drive, we are looking forward to meeting all of our fun and trendy seniors in the next few weeks! If anyone out there knows any seniors wanting some awesome and fun senior pics- let us know, we are looking for reps!

Joe + Julie Wedding

Spring Bridal Fair!!!

Alrighty! I've finally gotten caught up from the bridal fair last weekend. I've spent the past week emailing all of our amazing brides from the fair and setting up meetings and consults with everyone- it's been alot of work but we are so excited from the response we have been getting!

I'm finally able to post some pictures from our fair setup- we are SO happy with how it ended up. I have to admit that it was ALOT more work than we originally anticipated, but everything turned out great and we are so happy with the final setup. We had some help from some great friends here in town and everything went off better than we could have hoped. We were incredibly sore on Sunday and could barely walk- but it was definitely worth it!

Forgive me, most all of these pictures were taken with my little handheld, non-pro camera. There was so much going on it was much easier to just whip out this little guy and take pictures then setup the big baby! So alot are blurry- we were working fast and I apologize!

Bridal Fair Planning Process!!

As promised, pictures from the last few months of bridal fair setup! All of the months of stress and everything leading up to it were worth it. We decided to keep everything under wraps until the Big Reveal at the fair because we really wanted everything to be a surprise. Alot of the decorative things and the overall design for the fair has actually been in the works since last March- we've been picking up things here and there (zebra chair! That was one of our first purchases that we sort of based the theme around!) and it all came together. Adam built our walls on a nice weekend and although we had alot of troubles with them, in the end they looked great!

This was one of the happiest days!!! Aside from the day the canvases came (I think the Fed Ex man was outside for literally 20 minutes carrying in all of the boxes!) this was the BEST day! I came home to these- our albums!!!! Apparently our cat, Minnie, was just as excited as I was to see what's inside!

One of our albums- the packaging was so cool! This was the first major order we placed with this company after going back and forth between many others over the past year. We finally took a chance on them after liking their variety and we couldnt be happier!

These are just some of the MANY many pictures I collected over our building/planning/designing process. I took pictures of EVERY item-- I think I was a bit camera happy with every new purchase and every new box that arrived. Haha, I wont bore everyone with EVERY picture, but these are some of my favorites.

Luckily we wont have to go through this huge process for the next fair this fall. We are really happy though with all of the work and everything came together perfectly, despite my negativity that it wouldnt! :D

More Spotty Updates

Wow- time has been FLYING lately! I feel like there has been so much going on all at once. I apologize for the spotty updates- Adam and I have been working like crazy to get everything together for the upcoming bridal fair, which is THIS WEEKEND! I feel like we have been working on this forever (well, we have been working on it since last spring...) and we are SO excited to finally be able to put everything we have been working on together. We have so many new goodies and fun things we are offering now, and I just can't WAIT to share them!

We also have some really big goodies going on for the fair- BIG things that we are super excited about! Yay!

I know I'm being super secretive... and it's killing me! I have been taking so many pictures of everything we've been doing and want to share them SO bad, but we really are excited to unveil everything at once, so I can't spoil it! I promise to post the progress of everything we have been doing as soon as the fair is over.

Erin + Doug Winter Wedding

A couple weeks ago we shot one of the prettiest winter weddings to date weather-wise. Ok, so the couple may have thought otherwise- it was cold and foggy. But to us, it was a gem! Freezing fog in good ole' Omaha made ice encase the trees and create a true winter wonderland. We were super excited to get the opportunity to get pictures outside after the ceremony. Erin and Doug took us to a park out in Bellevue that had some gorgeous trees complete with fog-- picture perfect!

I know I might have went a bit overkill with these teaser pictures and I know most of them look pretty close to the same-- but I thought this was an awesome example of how editing can make pictures look completely different. I kept coming up with different things I wanted to do, so I figured I'd just do different variations of the pictures. Plus, the scenery was just so amazing that I figured no one would complain if the pictures looked similar.

Did I mention I love winter weddings?!

Aside from the weather, Erin and Doug had a fabulous wedding. This wedding was alot of fun for us- back in 2008 we shot the wedding of Nora and Jeremy, in which Erin and Doug were both in the wedding party. It was such a neat experience to see the two of them again (this time as members of Erin and Doug's wedding party!) and see more familiar faces in the crowd. Definitely a neat feeling!

Dion's Portrait Session

A couple weeks ago I came across this awesome studio space that rents out here in town and Adam and I just knew we needed to convince someone to come in so we could play around. Well, luckily, my friend Dion from work was game, and we had a blast shooting for a couple hours getting some great shots. Isn't she just gorgeous?! We havent had the opportunity to do a whole lot of pure studio shooting- most of our clients all want on-location shoots (which are our faves!) but it was definitely nice to get to make that switch back to the old school studio feel, complete with lighting setup and backdrops! So much fun.

Here's a few favorites from the shoot. I've also been working on a new border/copyright deal for our blog and facebook updates, so shoot me any feedback on the new design! I think I like it better than the basic white.

This month has been crazy busy and has literally flown by! We have been working like crazy getting all of our goodies ordered for our upcoming bridal fair in March and it has consumed us these past few weeks!

We placed a huge order for some new sample albums and some other goodies that we are very excited about, and I can't wait to share them. Perhaps I'll sneak a few pictures of the goods when they arrive!

Check back soon, we shot a beautiful wedding last weekend back in Omaha and I can't wait to share some teaser pics. It was a super foggy, snowy day and because of the freezing fog, the trees were cased in ice- it was absolutely stunning! And we were very lucky and got to take the awesome couple out in the snow for a few quick shots before the reception. Can't wait!

We have another wedding this weekend and I'm really excited for their reception place- it's a restored barn! How fun?! I can't wait.

Monica + Todd Wedding

A couple weeks ago I had the honor of getting to help out one of my good friends shoot a wedding back in Omaha. It was for a friend of hers, one who actually helped me out way back when as a "model", and I was so excited to get to be a part of her wedding. Their wedding also fell on Adam and I's original "anniversary" (now that we are married I find it odd that we dont have to celebrate this day anymore!), so it definitely held a special meaning for me.

They had a beautiful wedding- even though there were mounds of snow in Omaha and it was bitterly cold, they didnt let that stop them from having a big time party! They had their reception in the Old Market at the Blue Sushi restaurant...apparently the place has an AMAZING 3rd floor party room, with huge windows and modern decor overlooking downtown- I didnt even know this existed and combined with their red and black color scheme, it was like a designer's heaven.

Being a theater guy, Todd was ALL over the vows...I have to put this in here because we do so many weddings, and even with the traditional church vows I tear up at every wedding- but his was the best I've yet to come across, and believe me, I've seen some heartfelt self-written ones. I was crying by the second line (as was, I'm sure, everyone else!)- they were just so personal and so touching...love it! Dont get me wrong, Monica's were amazing too, but to have a guy's be this way was just a different thing to me! Must be all that theater training ;)

Happy New Year!!!!!

2010 is here and we are looking forward to all of the exciting things that we have in store for the new year. Adam and I have been hard at work planning all of the exciting things that we will be rolling out this year, and we can't wait to share them with everyone! We are so excited for all of the wonderful weddings that we have booked for this year (and we have alot!) and for all of the other goodies that we have planned.

Much more will be coming in the next few weeks, so be prepared for many new and exciting things!

Elliott Christmas Mini-Shoot!

So while I was in town last for my good friend Sara's graduation party, she had an idea of getting some pictures taken of her nephew as a gift for her brother and sister-in-law for Christmas. Since I was in town for a wedding, I already had my camera, so I figured "Why not?!" and we headed over for a quick (and by quick, I mean 15 minutes quick!) photo shoot. I didnt have my lights with me or any sort of backdrop, and since there was a good 13 inches of snow on the ground and dark outside, we had very little to work with in terms of a good place to take them. So, we got creative, and found a solid colored blanket and propped it up against a desk in an area with decent lighting and figured we'd give it a try!

Although we had limited time and VERY limited space, Elliott was super cooperative and gave me some great shots. He was so much fun to shoot, and once the weather gets better, I'm totally taking him out for a proper, full on portrait session! But in our 15 minutes I managed to get some good ones, and here are a few favorites from the day! I had to wait until Christmas was over to post them as to not give anything away- but I'm so excited to share them now!

Merry Christmas!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday full of friends, family and food! Hopefully not all of you are dealing with the Christmas Blizzard that we have been dealing with (though my friends in Omaha I know are!)- Adam and I are unfortunately snowed in with no way of moving our cars!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support throughout this past year. It was a year full of changes and excitement and I can only imagine that 2010 will bring even more greatness. We are working on some great new changes and additions for the new year and I'm very excited to be rolling them out for everyone soon. :D

So thank each and every one of you for helping make our business thrive. Without all of you, we wouldnt be here!

On a personal note, I'd like to leave you with a little festive greeting from our family- I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and we are looking forward to the new year ahead!

Andrea + Tiernan Wedding

Almost 2 weekends ago we got to shoot the last minute wedding of Andrea and Tiernan up in Omaha. They had an absolutely beautiful wedding- their ceremony was in the newly remodeled Sacred Heart Catholic Church and it was absolutely breathtaking inside- definitely one of the prettiest churches we have shot in, and we've seen alot!

After their beautiful morning ceremony, including bagpipe music from Tiernan's brother which was AMAZING, they had a cute brunch reception back at their beautiful Dundee home. I've driven by this house so many times as it sits right on Dodge, and always thought it was pretty. Yet getting to see the inside just makes me love it even more!

They were such a cute and fun couple. And even though the wedding fell in December- in NEBRASKA- it was actually a comfortable day with clear blue skies, which as you can see in the pictures, was a big favorite of ours!

Busy, Busy!

So if you have checked out the website lately you've probably noticed some changes...ok, so, alot of changes!

Yes, we finally switched to a new website place and have been working non-stop to get all of the elements in place to launch this bad boy. We've still got a few kinks to work out, and the layout may still change a bit when we find out what works and what doesnt, but so far the response has been positive and we are loving the new look! We wanted a way that would showcase our pictures a little better than the last one and finally think we've come up with a layout we like!

Aside from that, we've been busy busy with editing and coming up with ideas for the upcoming bridal fair. Yes, it's not until March, but we have big plans- ones that take time to execute and it's never to soon to start thinking about them!

We've also been overhauling our album design process- starting in January we will be going through a new lab for albums and we are super excited. We've been working on example stuff there and creating all of those fun goodies. We've been debating between a couple companies for about a year now, and finally settled on this one, and we are super excited to be debuting those at the fair.

And as if that isnt enough- we've also been working on 2 new divisions of our studio. Well, not so much NEW as in revamped and overhauled. You'll see more of what I mean in the coming weeks, and we are super excited to take these new divisions to new and exciting levels in the new year.

Has curiosity set in yet? Confusion? LOL- I promise to clarify more in the coming weeks, I have to leave some suspense now!

This week be looking for a bunch of new activity blog-wise. I'll have teasers from a fun wedding we did last weekend up in Omaha as well as a Vendor Spotlight on a really awesome company that has been working alot with us lately and we just can't say enough good things about! Plus, we have many more shoots scheduled for this weekend so next week will be full of goodies too!

Ashley + James Engagement

Last, but definitely not least, in our marathon weekend we had Ashley and James. These two had some really neat ideas for their pictures- while they wanted the typical nature-y shots, they also wanted some super urban ones- and some indoor shoots in an artsy, modern environment. Adam and I were super excited about this- 3 very different, very distinct locations-- love it!

We started out in the West Bottoms to get some of those grundgey, urban shots and while we were there we decided to go play around near inoperative trains- you know, those brightly colored ones with all the graffiti that you find in abandoned warehouse areas. This made for some incredible pictures! We really played up the bright colors against their white outfits and it was so much fun- and let me tell you, these two know how to dress and accessorize! Haha, not only Ashley, who I could tell was into fashion the day we met with her, but James too! He had on some super cool shoes that we just couldnt help snapping some pictures of. He admitted they were uncomfortable, but "sometimes necessary"-- how many guys do you know will dress in uncomfortable shoes for fashion's sake!? ;)

Afterwards we headed to the downtown area to hit some of the swanky hotel lobbys to get some fun indoor pics and they both pulled out yet another awesome outfit! Love it! Finally it was back to Longview Lake for some sunset pictures (and another great outfit- totally cute and fallish!) which turned out great. These two were so much fun! And super comfortable in front of the camera (even though they may not have thought so at the beginning!). We got alot of great pictures with these two and we are definitely looking forward to the wedding (I'm looking forward to her DRESS! Haha!) next summer. Again, I had a hard time narrowing down teaser pics- so my apologies if I went a bit overboard again!

Sarah + Justyn Engagement

I told you there would be alot of posts this week! :)

Next up is another of our engagement shoots from the weekend before our wedding. Sarah & Justyn braved the cold with us to get their shoot done while the colors were still perfect, and we are so glad they did! They wanted a mix of city and nature shots, so we started out at Longview Lake which has some incredible scenery and then headed all the way across town to the Crown Center District to get some of those city backdrops. We got a great mixture of shots and they were just so cute together! I can't wait until their wedding next summer. Sarah is just such a cutie! And talk about a prepared bride- she already had her shot list and formal list ready to go for the big day! Boy, if only all of my brides could be like this ;) Haha, at this time my own wedding was a week away and I had yet to get this important detail to our own photographer--made me feel unprepared! LOL!

Anywho, we got some great pictures and I'm so happy with how they ended up. All of our shoots and weddings from this weekend have been turning out so great- yay for overcast days! I hope you guys love your pictures, I'll have more for you soon!

Sheryl + Chris Wedding

Next up is a wedding that Adam and I shot the weekend before our own. It was out in the middle of nowhere, but it was a clear sunny day and that, combined with the colors of the trees and the rustic elements of the outdoor wedding made it absolutely stunning.

It was a tad bit chilly, but you'd never know it from these pictures! The coloring that day was just stunning- I had a really hard time limiting down my teasers for this wedding. I may have went a bit overboard, but like I said, the colors just made the pictures turn out beautifully, and there were just so many that I liked!

Sheryl and Chris are such a cute couple. You could tell that alot of planning and little details went into their wedding, and did I mention just how much I loved the rustic charm?! They did an amazing job of combining this rustic-ness with a big sense of elegance- it was really beautiful. I cant say enough about it! Everything, right down to her dress, just fit in together just perfect!

I hope you both enjoy the pictures so far!! :) Adam and I had a blast, thank you both for letting us share in your day!

Sarah + Brad Engagement

The weekend before we left we were swamped- 2 weddings and 3 engagement shoots in a matter of 3 days! And not to mention the fact that the weather wanted to be a bit on the chilly side so things were a bit harder than they usually are. Luckily, we had great couples and we bypassed the rain, so aside from some mud and wind and cold air, we had a great time with everyone! Since it wasnt super sunny at all during the weekend, we got some incredible shots in some really cool locations. Adam and I love it when we get to take pictures in new places- it leads to a whole new aspect of inspiration!

Anywho, first up from this weekend is one of our engagement couples. Sara and Brad were awesome- they braved it all, from the cold to trekking in the mud. We were driving around finding some fun locations and we came across this amazing looking structure down by the lake. Well, this place has no roads that lead to it, and it had rained the day before, leaving mud everywhere! But they hiked through it like pros, in dressy clothes and all! We hiked through the mud and weeds and boy was it worth it. The pictures here turned out awesome- we spent so much time here we even missed out on some locations we had wanted to hit in the first place!

I'm so happy with these- and I hope you guys are too!! :)

Hilary + Matt Wedding

As promised, we jumped right back into the thick of things today! This week is already promising to be a busy one...I've been up since 3 and going non-stop! I havent even eaten lunch! But I've replied to all of our emails and caught up on some important things and even had some time for some teasers!

First up is the lovely wedding of Hilary and Matt. These two were such a cute couple! They had a fall wedding a couple weeks before we left up in Nebraska and it was such a relaxed atmosphere and you could just tell that they were in love. Matt was a little shy about having his picture taken so we had to go to extra measures to get a smile out of him for the camera! But we managed to snag a few and I think they turned out wonderful!

And We're Back--And I'm a MRS!!

And we're back!

I'm officially a MRS now! The wedding was amazing and wonderful and the honeymoon was relaxing and warm and made me not want to get back to reality. ;) I spent the last few days changing my name and switching over the accounts and whatnot, and basically settling back in. It's been a while!

Anywho, Adam and I have a wedding this weekend up in Atlantic, Iowa and we are really looking forward to it. It's our first wedding back from our vacation, and Liz has been such a sweetheart to work with. She's been great, especially considering she had to go the 3 weeks before her wedding without talking to her videographers! :) But she had alot of trust and I know her wedding is going to be beautiful. And I know since this is our first one back, it's going to get me all gushy and sappy remembering our own wedding (oh what am I saying, I get that way at every wedding!)!

Anywho, this week is going to be alot of playing catchup since I havent been working and am sure I have many emails and things to deal with come Monday. But I plan to have a bunch of teasers this week from all of our weddings and engagement shoots from the week before we left, so stay tuned!

Yes, finally, I get to marry my wonderful fiance! I am absolutely thrilled. We get married on the 17th and then head to Baltimore and the Bahamas for our honeymoon.

Dana + Mark Wedding

A couple weekends ago Adam and I had the honor of shooting for one of our funnest couples yet- talk about someone who knows how to throw a great party! Dana and Mark were such a cute couple and we had a blast at their wedding.

They had probably the most unique reception locations we have done to date- it was in the beer cellar of an Irish Pub! How totally unique and fun. It was small and intimate, but held everyone perfectly, and it had two levels and a balcony and was just such a fun location- it made us want to come back!! The entire place was stone (hence the cellar part) which gave it a medieval feel and I just cannot say enough about the place. Loved it!

Anyways, here are a few teasers from their wedding. I can't wait to share more after our wedding next weekend (eep!)!

Sara + Joey Toledo Wedding

Destination weddings are always favorites of ours to shoot, because not only do we get a mini-getaway for a weekend, but it also gives us a whole new array of backdrops and shooting locations and always leads to some new and creative ideas.

Sara and Joey's wedding in Toledo, Ohio was no exception, and even though Toledo isn't what people typically think of when they think "destination wedding", it had some beautiful locations to shoot at, and Adam and I had a really great time and got some amazing pictures.

Sara and Joey are really good friends of ours and it was such an honor to get to take pictures at their wedding. We met some really cool people and it was alot of fun to get to take the pictures, but also enjoy ourselves as guests as well!

Uploading their pictures, I once again think I got carried away with the ones I picked for the blog. But Sara and Joey have helped us out alot, being models for us when we needed shooting ideas (even back before they officially got engaged! Boy how time flies!) and always serving as inspiration, so I figured that it was ok to post a bunch of pictures for them. :)

Jen + Don Wedding- Continued!

A few weeks ago I shot the lovely wedding for Jen & Don back in Omaha. (see previous post on the couple) As promised, here are some teasers from their beautiful day! I wasn't lying when I said they had the PERFECT weather!

I love this picture. It just looks so elegant. Probably my favorite from the day!

How absolutely PERFECT?! Right before the ceremony started a group of hot air balloons took off...it totally looked like they planned it!

This is another of my favorites. Adam took this one and I LOVE the color the sun casts on them and the expressions on the crowd!

They had the COOLEST idea for a guestbook where they took polaroid pics of all the guests dressed in funny accessories. We couldnt help but jump in on the action- too bad I didnt take a picture of our contribution!

We love it so much, we are stealing the idea for our wedding next month!

This little girl was ADORABLE! She was SINGING and dancing to the "All the single ladies" song...she knew all the words AND had a dance! And she was, what, 3?!

Labor Day weekend was a busy busy weekend. A really great friend of mine of going on close to 9 years got married and Adam and I had the honor of getting to photograph their wedding. They had an absolutely beautiful day, and it was such a special and wonderful thing to get to finally see them get married and be so much in love.

Catie was stunning and Jake was a wonderful groom- he stepped up when complications with the cake arose and, though he may not want to admit it, made me tear up when Catie walked down the aisle because he was so nervous. But it was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful couple.

Katie + Nick Trailer

Katie & Nick had a gorgeous wedding and reception down at The Paxon ballroom in downtown Omaha. They had a super chic color palate with bright yellow and black--it was really elegant! They were such a sweet couple, and it was so much fun to get to shoot their wedding. They had an amazing opportunity to get photos up on the roof of the high-rise, and I followed along and got some video as well and they were just so into each other- it was so cute!

They had a huge guest list, but event though the ballroom was crowded everyone was having a great time!

Jen + Don Wedding

Just got done shooting an awesome wedding outside of Omaha! Jen and Don got married out at a vineyard in Springfield, NE and they had the most perfect day...clear, crisp blue skys, low 70's for the temp, and a great crowd of guests. To top things off, right before the ceremony started, a pack of hot air balloons took off nearby and flew behind the bridal party as the sun was setting! What perfect timing!!

They also had a really, really awesome idea for their guest book that Adam and I are kind of stealing for our own wedding next month! I wont go into details yet, but I will talk more about it in their next post after I have some pics of it to show!

Dan & Kyleen Trailer!

Dan & Kyleen were a gorgeous couple I had the privilege of shooting a few weeks ago back in Omaha. They had their reception at the BEAUTIFUL Botanical Gardens downtown, and that place is just magnificent. The view was incredible! They were just so cute, and you could tell that they were just so much in love.

They had such a fun wedding. The DJ was also so much fun- he got the night started with an interactive game for all of the guests that had people laughing even before the meal was served! It was so much fun.

I hope you guys had a blast on your honeymoon and that you enjoy your trailer from the day! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day!!! :)

Aaron & Bethany Trailer

Aaron and Bethany were a really fun couple from Texas who had their wedding at the GORGEOUS Joslyn Castle back in Omaha. I LOVE, love love that venue, the architecture and landscape of the castle are just beautiful, not something that you would expect to find in Midtown Omaha.

Aaron and Bethany had a super fun and personal wedding, and they made us feel like part of the family! Their wedding party was an absolute blast (we even got a full MTV "Cribs" style tour of the castle! Talk about some fun footage for the video!) and you could just tell the two of them were so in love.

They were the first couple we have worked with who opted for the sand ceremony instead of the unity candle, and we were SO excited to see it in action since that is what we had decided to do in our own wedding here in a couple months. It was beautiful and made me even more excited for our own!

Here's the trailer from their wedding, I had such a hard time condensing down their tons and tons of footage into a mere 2 minutes! I hope you guys enjoy your trailer and that you are enjoying your time as NEWLYWEDS!!! :D

Katie + John Wedding Trailer!

Due to the wonderful move this is slightly behind on schedule, but as promised, here is the trailer from Katie and John's beautiful wedding from a few weeks ago!

Adam and I had a great time at this wedding. Not only were they a really cute couple, but their wedding party really knew how to, well, party! The reception was a blast and we have so much amazing footage, I dont know how I will edit it all down for the final video! Not to mention, editing down all those hours of footage into this minute and a half trailer!

I also ran into a friend of mine from high school, turns out her sister was the maid of honor in the wedding! I knew I recognized her, but I wasnt 100% sure, and then Carolyn showed up with her dad (also a teacher of mine in college!) and it was so nice to see her and catch up!

Hopefully you guys enjoy the trailer! I used alot of special effects on this piece by giving it a more vintage, old-time look. While I dont do this in the final piece, I love adding little special touches to the trailers to give them that artisitic flair.

Moving Woes!

Ahh moving is so stressful! Even though the move is done, there is still SO much to do in terms of unpacking and everything.

To make matters worse, my workstation is currently set up in our kitchen...turns out because we are living in an older home, the outlets in the office are only 2-prong, while our lovely Mac is a 3. So we have to find a converter from Radio Shack or Home Depot, and until then, I've been utilizing the kitchen counter as my editing station. It works, but I have to say I prefer my room and will be happy once my desk is set up!

That, and the movers we had apparently couldnt read, and instead of putting a couple of my boxes labeled "OFFICE" into the, well, office, they ended up somehow in the kitchen...making for a very stressful couple of days while I panicked trying to find my hard drives that had weddings on them! No fear, they are now found and unharmed, but it was a stressful couple days!

My lovely make-shift desk! I will be very happy when it can be properly set up in the office in the next couple days!

Moving Time and Holidays!

Moving weekend!

Along with the 4th of July (happy 4th, btw!) this has also been moving weekend for Adam and I. Though we are only moving here in town, it's still a 30+ mile move, and because we just did this 8 months ago, we were not looking forward to it.

It was a long process and we really didnt get to celebrate the holiday (though we did drive up to one of the country club displays and watch from the car) but the good news is that we are all moved in. Granted there are boxes upon boxes everywhere and we have to walk sideways sometimes in order to get around, but this place is bigger than the last and it is nice and in a great area, so I know we will be happier. Our puppy has been busy exploring the entire house- obviously she thinks that we moved for her. :)

Anywho, once I can find all of my office stuff I will have more goodies for all of you, including a wedding trailer from a wedding in Omaha a couple weeks ago!

sara + joey engagement

This past weekend Adam and I finally got to shoot our really good friends Joey & Sara's engagement pictures. Their session has been pushed back because of rain more times than any other that I have dealt with, and on this particular Omaha day I was a bit worried once again because waking up Sunday morning to cloudy skies and puddles on the ground wasn't exactly a great sign.

But we held on and pushed it from morning to late afternoon and Omaha weather actually treated us well- bright sunny skies and aside from a few stray puddles, dry ground. Granted, it was about a bajillion degrees outside (yay humid Nebraska weather!) but it was better than the cold or rain, so we suffered through, and you'd never know the heat looking at these pictures- they seemed to never break a sweat!!

Anywho, they had some cute ideas for pictures and it was really nice to get to see them and hang out with them again. It's always a blast to shoot friends, and Adam and I are so excited for their September wedding (just a little over a month before us!) in OHIO! Yes, another destination wedding- how excited are we?!

Ok, so I went a bit overboard with these pictures. Usually I try to limit my teasers, I mean, if I didnt then where would the suspense for the rest of them be? But I was having a really good time going through these pictures today and so many of them just turned out SO WELL that I figured, what the heck. We started out in the park next to our old college and then headed up to UNO to get some classic campus pics in their super cute matching Mav shirts!

Then I convinced them to head downtown to the train tracks, and even though I dont think Joey was quite following my vibe there- I think he will now agree that they turned out quite amazing :)

Sara and Joey were actually one of our model couples way back when we started the business in college. They suffered through a "mock" engagement session back before they were even engaged to give us posing and location ideas. chelsey + dustin wedding

About a week ago Adam and I were able to shoot Chelsey and Dustin's wedding (see previous post on e-pics!). Because of weather they had to have their e-pics a week or so before their big day, but that's ok- you get to see two awesome back-to-back posts on them!

Anywho, they had a super cute wedding and a really fun bridal party. Their day went really smoothly (aside from the mishap at the church!) and they had some really great ideas for pictures. We love props!! They had an awesome old Chevy truck that they wanted some pictures with, and we had a great time getting some really fun and unique pictures-not to mention that the truck was an amazing bright BLUE, so pictures+bright blue truck+sunny day= AMAZING!!! Not to mention they had a great color palatte with the pinks and browns (perhaps I'm biased on that one....but hey, it got Adam to agree to a chocolate tux!!).

They were such a cute and fun couple and were really a blast to work with. I can't WAIT to start their album!!

Here are a few favorites from the day, I know there is a bunch of just the Bride, but hey, she was GORGEOUS (as I am sure you will agree!), and her dress was just stunning!

chelsey + dustin engagement

A couple weeks ago Adam and I had the honor of getting to shoot Chelsey and Dustin's engagement pictures. Because of the lovely midwest weather, their shoot got moved around a couple times, but we were finally able to squeeze it in. Granted, it ended up on the absolute HOTTEST day so far (it was in the 90s and sunny!) but at least it wasnt raining!

We started out in Loose Park and got some pictures in the absolutely gorgeous rose garden there before heading down to the West Bottoms (and taking a few wrong turns along the way- sorry guys!) so get some funky urban shots. It was so much fun and the pictures are turning out GREAT so far!

So enjoy guys! I hope you both like them so far and I am looking forward to your wedding this weekend! Adam and I have some AWESOME ideas for your bridal party pictures (they are bringing an old pickup truck for some pics- HOW FUN?!) and can't wait to see what we can do!

busy updates!

This week has literally been a whirlwind of happenings. Back this past weekend we shot Katie and John's wedding back in Omaha, and as it turned out, one of my friends from high school was at the reception! Her sister was the maid of honor in the wedding, and it was so neat to get to see her at the wedding!

The wedding itself went really well! It had been a while since shooting video since we've been booked solid lately with photography and the groove quickly came back! Look for the trailer for their wedding in the coming weeks!

We were then supposed to shoot Sara and Joey's engagement pictures on Sunday, but the weather in Omaha was less than ideal so we pushed it to the weekend of the 20th when we will be in town to catch a College World Series game, so hopefully the weather will be a bit less rainy and dreary then!

Anyways this week has been super busy with editing and more editing! I finished up a wedding and a couple shoots last week, and this week have been trying really hard to get Chelsey and Dustin's engagement pictures done (or at least mostly done!) before their wedding this weekend. I've been so pre-occupied trying to finish some of their pictures so fast that I haven't done a blog for them yet! I will do that right after I finish this, so you can all see how well they turned out!

June is a busy busy month! It's officially only 4 months until my own wedding and planning on that end has been insanely busy. Not to mention June is a big wedding and engagement shoot month so I havent had much free time! In between editing I've been trying my best to get my Save the Dates done and out (hopefully by the end of this week!) so that we can send the actual invites out at the end of this month. Also my bridal shower is in July, so that will be fun! My mom and sisters are actually coming up for that, and I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

We are also moving at the end of this month. Granted it's just an in-town move, but the re-packing and whatnot that we just got finished with from moving only 8 months ago is a bit daunting! Oh well, I've been having fun and editing all of these pictures has gotten me some great ideas for my own wedding.

This week I have Sarah and David's wedding on Friday and then Chelsey and Dustin on Saturday. So it will be a busy, busy weekend again! :)

random updates on a busy week!

This week has literally been a whirlwind! Why does it always seem that coming back from vacation always means that you have a pile of work the size of Texas waiting for you? Oh well, the trip was a blast, but I suppose I had to get back to reality at some point ;)

Anywho, not too much to update this week, I have been super busy trying to get caught up on the pictures that I didnt get to work on last week. I'm working on around 4 weddings at the moment as well as another 5 engagement/portrait shoots, with more to come this weekend, so busy busy busy! Adam and I are also in the process of making/printing our Save the Dates for our own wedding- there just arent enough hours in the day!

I have an engagement shoot coming up this weekend with one of my June couples, and I am really excited. I remember meeting them many months ago for the first time and they seem like such a fun couple. Their session has been rained out a couple times now, so hopefully the sunny forecast holds out (although it is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far- ahh!). Look for a teaser blog next week with some of their pictures!

a little tanner, but I'm back!

So I just got back from Puerto Rico late yesterday and have to confess that I am a bit bummed to be back in the Midwest and no longer surrounded by the clear blue Caribbean waters. I had so much fun, we went to the old forts, the caves, hiking in the rain forest, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and just exploring the areas! We even hit up the super upscale club at the El San Juan hotel- it was so fun! Dont get me wrong, I love photography and what I do, but it was such a great break from everyday life and having to worry about this and that- not to mention the stresses of planning my own wedding (4 months and counting! Eeek!).

I'm exhausted now, but I promise to post some pictures either this week or next. Right now I need to catch up on my sleep before possibly editing a few more pictures tonight, and then jumping back in full force tomorrow! I have a week's worth of editing to catch up on for my wonderful brides, but once I get caught back up I promise I'll share some wonderful pictures. Puerto Rico was definitely beautiful and I can't wait to share some pictures and relive the wonderful trip! :)

Alrighty everyone expect no updates from me for a week! I'm off to Puerto Rico for vacation and can not wait! (Hey, even us photographers need vacations!) A week of mountains, swimming and beaches...mmmm!

Oh my goodness.

So I was trying to test out this neat little thing called an "auto-reply" to emails, since I'm leaving on vacation next week. So I read the directions and set it up, only planning on having it set up for a couple minutes to test it and then take it down until Sunday. Well apparently I hit the wrong thing, because my mail decided that it wanted to send this little email to EVERY MESSAGE in my inbox, not just people who have sent a new message.

Holy crap. And I cant get it to stop, and it is now sending about 1,200 emails. Repeatedly. So now all of my clients are getting multiple out of office emails from me, even if they havent talked to me in years.

I am embarrassed beyond belief. And I cant make it stop!

Omaha was such a busy weekend! Along with Catie and Jake's e-pics (see below post for their teasers!) Adam and I also had the privilege of taking Jen and Don's pictures as well! They were such a cute couple, and I loved her dress and accessories! Jen was telling me all about their wedding in August, and I am SO excited! She is going to be using alot of bright colors for their outdoor wedding, and as we all know, I am a huge fan of color! So that will definitely make for some great pictures. And Don was a great sport Sunday, even though he wasn't much of a picture taking fan! :)

Sunday I had the honor of getting to shoot one of my really good friend's engagement pictures. Catie has been one of my really good friends since we were freshman in high school and her and Jake have been together since the two of us were sophomores. I was there the day the two of them started dating (I like to credit myself for them going out, after all it was me who kept her mom from making her leave the baseball game that night ;)) and have seen the two of them grow together over the years, and I am so excited that they are finally getting married. The fact that she is allowing me to do their pictures is such an honor, and I am so excited for their September wedding!

Anyway, Catie is actually a very talented graphic designer. In fact she has been helping design our Save the Date cards for our wedding and is going to help us with the invitations as well. Don't get me wrong, I love making stuff myself, but I have nowhere near the talent that she does and her stuff is just so awesome! Everyone should definitely visit her store to see some of her amazing work. And that is just the start of what she can do-she designed my upcoming ad in the Perfect Wedding Guide magazine (and it turned out AWESOME! I can't wait to get the first copy!) and I plan on using her for many more business and personal related things in the future. So I definitely encourage all of my amazing brides out there to take a look at her invitations- if you are looking for something unique (who isn't?!) and unlike anything you've seen out there, you will love her stuff. I know I spend months upon months searching for the perfect invitation and nothing caught my eye, and she has exactly what we're looking for. She's got a blend of modern and traditional as well as the all out funky- anything you can dream up, she can make it happen!

Also, take a look at her wedding blog, she's going to have a beautiful wedding, and check out all of the things she has designed for her own big day!

Back to the engagement shoot- Catie and Jake had some very specific ideas for their shoot and it was SO much fun to get to be able to bring those ideas to life. They even brought some fun props (loving the balloon!!!)! We went out to a lake and then to downtown Omaha and it was so much fun. :)

an omaha weekend

This week has been crazy busy with editing and I feel like I should post more of what I have been doing so it doesnt look like I fell off the face of the earth. :) Adam and I are heading back to Omaha this weekend, I get to go to my really good friend Sara's bridal shower and the Sunday we have back to back engagement shoots set up. Jen and Don are up first and I am super excited. They seem like a really fun couple and I am excited to get to interact and meet them and explore more of downtown.

Later in the afternoon we are finally getting to do Catie & Jake's pictures. Catie has been one of my really really great friends since we were freshman in high school and I can't tell you how great it is to have the honor of shooting her wedding. Their e-pics were rained out a couple weeks ago, but the weather is looking better for Sunday, and they have some REALLY fun ideas for the pictures that I am SUPER excited about, so I know this shoot will be tons of fun. Catie is also a very talented graphic designer. And along with helping me with my invites and save the dates (previews to come!) she also has her own invitation and design business. Stay tuned, because after I have some awesome pictures of her, I plan to tell you a bit more about her business and send you towards her blog and website. I'm so excited for her to help with our invites and all for our wedding, I've looked at invitations for almost 2 years now, never finding anything remotely like what I wanted. And then I take a look at Catie's site, and wouldn't you know it, all of her stuff just has that pop I was wanting in ours. They are unlike anything you've seen!

Anywho, busy weekend ahead, but it should be fun! I'm off to do some last minute cleaning before we head on back to Omaha. Look for teasers and much much more this next week! :)

I am so excited! Christina posted our engagement pics a couple days ago and they turned out soooo well! We are so excited and lucky that we found someone like her to take our pictures. We now just need to be able to take some time to sit down and look through them all for our favorites! Things are just so crazy right now, it seems like all I have been doing is weddings and looking for a house lately! Hopefully things will calm down a bit soon and we will get a chance to sit down together soon to pull out our faves. We really need to get our Save the Dates out soon!

Christina also posted an awesome "Photographer Spotlight" showcasing our business! It was so incredibly cool to work with someone who would do something like that, and it all turned out so so great! Everyone should take a look at the spotlight on her blog.

Because I cant say enough about her, everyone should also take a look at our full session on her website. Click Client Proofing on the bottom, head to Engagement/Bridal, and Click Adam & Cassie. Then everyone else can gush about how well they turned out. :) I can't wait to hopefully have the chance to work more with her in the future!

engagement pictures- finally!

Wedding planning has started to become a bit more stressful. I think it is because I realized today that we are less than 6 months from the big day, and we have very little planned.

But a good thing, back on Sunday Adam and I had the chance (finally, after over a year of waiting!) to get our engagement pictures done! We knew we wanted the pictures done in KC, mainly because we live here, but also because there are some really, really neat places to get them done here. So after many, many days of searching, we finally decided on Sandberg Photography to do our pictures. Christina is super talented, and I love love love her editing style and use of textures. She also takes absolutely incredible pictures of children!

She and her husband took us down to the West Bottoms on Sunday and we really had a fun time finding neat places to take pictures. She had some really fun ideas, and it was an entirely different experience being on the other side of the camera for once. Adam wasnt too thrilled about having his picture taken, but in the end he admitted that it wasnt as bad as he thought. But I do admit it was a bit strange being the one photographed instead of taking the pictures! Now I know what everyone is going through when they say they feel awkward. ;)

But the shoot went really well I think, and I cannot wait to see Christina's pictures. She posted a couple on her blog last night, and I LOVE them so far. It makes me very excited to see the rest, especially because even though I love taking pictures, I'm really not photogenic whatsoever. Hence why my talent lies behind the lens and not in front :). But keep checking her blog in the coming days, she'll have more teasers as well as a little "Spotlight" interview type deal she did with me about my business!

But a big thanks to Christina who was super cool and a blast to work with. Hopefully we will get to interact more in the future here in KC! I cant wait to see the rest of the pictures!

sarah + tyson wedding

A couple weeks ago Adam and I had the pleasure to shoot Sarah and Tyson's wedding in San Diego. It was not only absolutely BEAUTIFUL, but they had perfect California weather to top it all off! They took all of the guests on a double decker bus through San Diego- it was such a fun idea and we got to stop for pictures at all of the fun places in town- including the beach!

It was such a fun wedding and they are such an adorable couple. They just got back from their honeymoon and I hope they had an amazing time! The pictures turned out GREAT so far, and I am so excited for the rest.

katie + chris engagement

The other day Adam and I had the pleasure of meeting Katie & Chris! They were such a fun couple and we had a blast exploring the areas near the Power and Light District downtown. We found some fun alleyways and neat backdrops- it made for some really fun pictures!!

random side note on slushies

So on a side note, I went to get my oil changed in my car yesterday and I was a bit irritated because I went to the "Instant Oil Change" place like in Omaha and here they are supposed to just do your car immediately while you are sitting in the car. So you can listen to the radio and whatnot and not have to go inside and sit in their boring waiting area while they take longer than they should on your car. Anywho, I give them my info and they were like "Ok, give us your keys and go wait inside!" Hmmm...apparently they dont know the concept of the "instant" oil change...

In any case, I was slightly irritated at this fact, and the fact that I had just went to the grocery store and bought a case of eggs (yes, just eggs. I had a craving!) and was worried they were going to take too long to finish or they would break them. Yeah. Plus, I was insanely hungry.

So I walk inside and all of my anger was gone, because low and behold, inside the waiting room was not the typical vending machine and coffee pot, but THIS

Yes, you see that correctly. A slushie machine. And they were free. So I was content to wait the 25 minutes it took them to do the car while I sipped on my free blue slush. Every oil change place should, in fact, have one of these. I will return there simply because of this. Even though they didnt really comprehend the "instant" factor.

And yes, my mouth did turn slightly blue. But it was worth it.
